You may have wandered around at a play party—let alone a non-kink event—wishing you knew who shared or complemented your desires. Gay and bisexual men in the 1970s developed a system to reduce this uncertainty: the hanky code.
The Cans: A Burlesque and Film Event in San Francisco
[‘Burlesque,’ in the modern day, usually refers to] …performances in a variety show format. These were popular from the 1860s to the 1940s, often in cabarets and clubs, as well as theaters, and featured bawdy comedy and female striptease …There has been a resurgence of interest in this format since the 1990s.

Fun sexytimes in vintage comics
I love illustrated vintage comics, books, and magazines! I’m not a collector, but I can spend a whole afternoon looking at them online. There are a lot of them that were intended to be erotic, but there are others that, to contemporary eyes, read as unintentionally dirty. (Or maybe I’m just channeling my inner twelve-year-old—e.g., everyone keeps talking about someone called “Dick,” har har har.) In any case: men spanking women, women spanking men, women spanking women, leather, latex, shoes, boots, stockings, bondage, whips, huge tits, and more. Also superheroes, and of course a naughty spaceman. Enjoy!

NSFW King of Kink: A John Sutcliffe / ‘Atomage’ Retrospective Photo Essay
This is a great article about British clothing designer John Sutcliffe, from the CvltNation website. Read the whole thing, and see more images, here.
Founded by British clothing designer John Sutcliffe as an offshoot of his Atomage fetish clothing label (which was way before its time), the ‘Atomage’ magazine was published in an A5 format between 1972-1980. It focused on PVC and rubber fetishism, which helped push this kinky subculture forward and gave the community a magazine they could call their own. ‘Atomage Bondage’ and ‘Atomage Rubber’ became sister zines to ‘Atomize.’

Welcome! Plus, some basic kink terms defined
Welcome to my blog! I’ll have posts on kink, design, and kinky design that aim to entertain and/or educate, as well as news and events in the San Francisco Bay Area kink scene. An extensive event calendar is here.
You may already have years in the kink world, but you may also be just starting out, or even exploring whether kink—in whatever amount and flavor—is for you. You may encounter new words, or words used in a different way, which can be confusing.
